How You Will Make an ImpactThe Intervention Specialist instructs and assesses assigned students with disabilities in a personalized instructional environment, working with students and/or parents to determine and evaluate the students academic plan. This position will collaborate with school administration and faculty to support student retention and academic success.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

- Assign a course of study individualized to the needs of the student
- Provide instruction to students using approved curriculum
- Collaborate with general education teachers and refer students to a core subject teacher when necessary
- Construct, review, revise and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEP) following state and federal timelines
- Be responsible for managing the students behavior; exercise corrective action when necessary
- Participate in the identification of students with possible disabilities post intervention phase
- May perform work for special day class settings
- Schedule and chair IEP meetings including 30 day review IEP meetings
- Meet special education program timeline requirements
- Participate in, proctor, and supervise state and school-mandated testing following school policies and procedures for test security. Assign test scores as appropriate on formative assessments, projects, or local tests
- Accept, carefully review, and evaluate homework and online work, providing timely feedback to students
- Monitor students course credit completion
- Monitor and document student notes in the student information system (SIS)
- Meet all Ohio Standards for the Teaching Profession and Ohio Standards of Professional Practice
- Be available to student and/or parent during the student's appointment
- Collaborate with the Principal to develop an Individual Professional Development Plan (IPDP)
- Contribute to teacher-based teams, professional learning communities and/or committees as assigned
- Report necessary absences as soon as the need is known, and prepare documentation for a substitute or other teacher as needed
