POSITION

STATEMENT:

The coordinator will be responsible for providing instructional leadership by investigating, evaluating, and implementing research and evidence-based curriculum and instruction. The coordinator will lead the development, articulation, and implementation of programs of concentration within the CTE VM Delivery Model. They will also design, coordinate and facilitate relevant professional development and career awareness and exploration opportunities for students that positively impact instruction and workforce development aligned to high wage, in demand jobs.

Additionally, the coordinator will collaboratively work with district and building leadership, business partners and associations by modeling, designing, and supporting the implementation of industry credentials and work-based learning experiences aligned to career-technical standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of course standards and the alignment to industry experiences and labor market trends.
  • Develop, collaborate and create curriculum resources in Canvas or other LMS systems
  • Provide leadership and direction on quality CTE programs by working with administrators and teachers to understand programs of concentration
  • Serve as CTSO contact for programs of concentration
  • Coordinate and facilitate workshops for CTE VM Instructors
  • Serve on district, state and national committees as requested
  • Present, organize and facilitate summer, evening or weekend school, community or industry events
  • Provide direct services to students and teachers involving career awareness and exploration
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Valid Ohio teaching certification/licensure
  • Recommended five years of successful teaching experience in Columbus City Schools
  • Valid drivers license and willing to become van certified to transport students when needed
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain collegial, cooperative relations with students, parents, teachers, counselors, building and central office administrators and other personnel, as well as community, business and other partners
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and excellent technological skills
  • Availability to facilitate, present and/or attend school, district and community events
  • Proven indication of being a highly flexible and adaptable staff member; adept at multitasking an thriving in a fast-paced environment while coordinating numerous time-sensitive projects

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Tools/Equipment Use:
    Desktop PC with keyboard and mouse, laptop, scanner, calculator, software, desk, and adjustable chair.
  • Posture:
    Prolonged sitting and standing; occasional stooping, bending, squatting, kneeling, bending, pushing, pulling and twisting.
  • Motion:
    Frequent repetitive hand motions, including keyboarding and use of a mouse; occasional reaching
  • Lifting:
    Occasional lifting and carrying (less than 10 pounds)
  • Environment:
    Works in an office setting; may require occasional irregular hours and/or prolonged hours.
  • Attendance:
    Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required for this position.
  • Mental Demands:
    Maintains emotional control under stress; works with frequent interruptions.
