Construction Project Coordinator (Construction Project Specialist
2) (2600040W) Overview

The Ohio Facilities Construction Commission (OFCC) oversees capital projects undertaken by state agencies and state-supported institutions of higher education; manages Ohio's school facility programs; and administers community-based cultural and sports facility projects. The commission sets uniform rules, procedures, and standardized documents for state construction under Chapter 153.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare architect/engineer, consultant and construction vendor contract documents and amendments.
  • Process contract documents (receive, review, verify, and enter required information).
  • Complete entries to project forms and ensure accurate completion.
  • Facilitate approvals for all contracts.
  • Prepare controlling board criteria for funding releases.
  • Process controlling board requests, distribute contract information to owners, verify submitted data for funding, and coordinate purchase order dispatch upon approval.
  • Respond to inquiries from contractors, A/Es, owners, and interested parties.
  • Provide direction in completing required forms and documents.
  • Process construction schedule of values and subcontractor/material supplier declarations (receive, review, verify, enter data).
  • Process invoices and change orders; maintain budgetary control relative to impact of changes.
  • Prepare requests to owners for retainage escrow funds and issue authorization for release upon contract completion.
  • Review and process liability insurance certificate updates.
  • Compile, organize, and maintain project documents.
  • Follow up and respond to problems/issues arising during the project life cycle.
  • Research project information and prepare analyses using MS Excel and Word.
  • Create PowerPoint presentations and conduct informational presentations as assigned.
  • Monitor and assist all aspects of the bid process to meet scheduled deadlines.
  • Establish bid dates.
  • Prepare legal advertisements for publication in newspapers and on the commission website.
  • Notify all parties involved (owners, A/E’s, construction managers).
  • Attend pre‑bid conferences and advise contractors on process and procedures.
  • Conduct public bid openings and prepare bid tabulations.
  • Assist the construction team in verifying submitted documents.
  • Verify bidders’ bonds.
  • Prepare recommendations for award letters.
  • Prepare contracts and verify documents.
  • Act as a Prevailing Wage Coordinator.
Qualifications

Minimum of 12 months experience as Construction Project Specialist 1, or equivalent, or 3 months training or experience in one of the following: shop math, geometry, trigonometry or calculus; and 3 months training or experience in reading blueprints/specifications. Must be able to provide own transportation.
