Overview
The Sustaining Engineer in the Consumer Products Group (CPG) focuses on lifecycle management of legacy and newly launched consumer products, including product enhancements, line extensions, cost-out opportunities, Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE), Factory Support, and updating product regulatory requirements. This role collaborates closely with Product Development (NPD) Engineering, Quality Engineering, Purchasing, Sales/Marketing, Brand Teams, and Operations Teams, and aims to maintain quality, reliability, and cost-efficiency throughout the product lifecycle.
GeneralResponsibilities
- Support Production:
Address and resolve production-related issues to ensure smooth manufacturing operations - Product Improvement:
Review and recommend updates to product specifications to enhance design, cost, quality, and reliability - Maintenance and Reliability:
Implement preventative maintenance measures and develop processes for ongoing support - Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work with engineering, operations, and customer support teams to meet end-user needs and maintain compliance with industry standards - Incident Resolution:
Assess and resolve operational issues and incident reports promptly - Continuous Improvement:
Drive continuous improvement initiatives and cost-saving measures - Design Evaluation:
Critically evaluate design implementations to ensure optimal manufacturability and performance - Other duties as assigned
- Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of engineering principles and manufacturing processes.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues.
- Communication: Effective speaking and writing skills for clear communication with teams and stakeholders.
- Creativity: Innovative thinking to improve products and processes
- Solid Works: Proficiency in using Solid Works
- MS Office: Proficiency in using MS Office
- Multi-Project Capable: Comfortable handling multiple projects
- Travel: Travel required 30-40% of the time (domestic and international)
- BS in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline with equivalent experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in product design or product sustaining role
