Contract: 1-year contract with potential to hire
Schedule: Standard 8–5 M–F; options for 4×10s or 4×9s + 4 available
Location: 8500 Smiths Mill road New Albany, Ohio 43081 OR 212 E 6th St, Tulsa, OK 74119
Role OverviewThis position supports Transmission Line Engineering as a senior‑level Subject Matter Expert (SME). The engineer will perform complex engineering activities, lead training and quality reviews, support special projects, and provide technical leadership across a large regional team (12 core team members supporting ~40 across the region).
No regular overtime expected. Occasional site visits possible, though overnight travel is not anticipated. Role has potential to convert; AEP does not sponsor.
Must-Haves- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program
- Minimum 6 years of Transmission Line Engineering experience
- AEP experience
- PE license (preferred but not required)
- Structural design, foundation design, and/or surveying experience
- Conduct quality reviews and assist in developing training materials
- Support special projects as assigned
- Proficiency with Transmission Line design, structure modeling, plan & profile development
- Strong understanding of the NESC and industry standards
- Proficiency with PLS-CADD
- Ability to interpret codes, regulations, and technical standards
- Experience preparing complex technical reports and guiding others’ work
