We are seeking an experienced Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist to support and drive safety, health, and environmental compliance within a heavy manufacturing environment. This role partners closely with operations, maintenance, and leadership to ensure regulatory compliance, reduce risk, and foster a strong, proactive safety culture across the facility.
The ideal candidate has hands‑on experience in industrial or heavy manufacturing settings and is comfortable working on the plant floor while influencing safety performance at all organizational levels.
Key Responsibilities- Support and administer the facility’s EHS programs to ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and state/local regulations
- Conduct routine safety audits, risk assessments, and job hazard analyses (JHAs)
- Investigate workplace incidents, near misses, and injuries; identify root causes and implement corrective actions
- Lead and support safety training programs
, including onboarding, toolbox talks, and regulatory training - Maintain required EHS documentation, records, and reports (injury logs, permits, inspections, SDS, etc.)
- Partner with operations and maintenance teams to identify hazards and implement practical, effective solutions
- Support environmental programs including waste management, spill response, air/water compliance
, and permit requirements - Participate in regulatory inspections and serve as a point of contact for regulatory agencies as needed
- Promote continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen safety culture and reduce incidents
- Assist with emergency response planning and drills
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering
, or a related field (or equivalent experience) - 3+ years of EHS experience in a heavy manufacturing, industrial, foundry, steel, mining, or similar environment
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations and general environmental compliance requirements
- Experience conducting incident investigations and implementing corrective actions
- Ability to work effectively on the shop floor in an active, industrial environment
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence hourly and salaried employees
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and EHS reporting systems
