Overview
The City of Gahanna is seeking a Director of Engineering to lead all municipal engineering functions and oversee the Engineering Department’s staff, operations, and strategic direction. This position is responsible for managing capital improvement projects, reviewing private development plans, overseeing traffic engineering and municipal utilities engineering, and providing technical engineering support to City departments.
The Director of Engineering oversees complex infrastructure projects from planning and design through construction and closeout; develops and administers the departmental budget; ensures compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations; and aligns departmental goals with the City’s strategic plan. The role serves as a key advisor to City leadership, elected officials, boards and commissions, and collaborates with internal departments and external agencies to support safe, reliable, and sustainable infrastructure for the community.
StartingSalary Range
The starting salary is between the minimum and midpoint of the range ($106,704 annually - $130,728 annually). Candidates will start at the minimum of the range unless their skills, experience, education or other factors exceed the qualifications for the position. A typical way to qualify is a Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Civil Engineering and seven (7) or more years of progressively responsible experience in a work environment that would demonstrate effectiveness in leading engineering projects and at least two (2) years of supervisory experience in local, state, or federal government.

- Current and valid Ohio driver’s license with an acceptable driver’s abstract in order to meet criteria for insurability established by the City of Gahanna.
