Allied Mineral Products is a leading manufacturer of monolithic refractories worldwide, headquartered in Columbus, Ohio. We are currently seeking aTechnical Sales Engineer – Ceramic Shapes who will maintain and expand the sales of Allied Mineral Products’ Ceramic Shape and Injection Molded Core (Industrial Ceramic Products) lines into the Metals and Industrial industries primarily, but not limited to, the Northern and Northeast regions of the United States.

This role will maintain a high level of visibility and involvement within the market and work with current and future Allied Sales Representatives in discovering and developing refractory (ceramic) shape and injection molded core opportunities.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Work closely and travel with Allied Sales Representatives, Allied Manufacturing Representatives, Distributors, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM’s), etc.
  • Obtain competitive information, such as prices, product information, samples, designs, etc., so that you may utilize this information to increase sales.
  • Service accounts as needed, including assisting with shape design, installation, troubleshooting, complaints, etc.
  • Assist in the design and quotation process as necessary for new or existing opportunities.
  • Complete brief call reports on each call made, including company name; city and state; date call was made; persons interviewed; topics discussed; present status; any changes in potential, personnel, products used, etc. through routine submissions using the SAP / C4C software systems.
  • Complete call reports for new accounts, which include the following: company name; complete address, including zip code, phone number, and area code; personnel and titles; number, size, and types of furnaces; metals melted; maximum temperatures; furnace cycles; refractories used; life in number of tons, heats, and weeks; price of refractories; potential in pounds and dollars for each type of refractory; type of failure;

    etc.
  • Maintain an active presence in trade organizations such as the American Foundry Society, Investment Casting Institute, etc., and attend trade shows and educational seminars within those respective organizations.
  • Keep management updated on all competitive activity in sales areas.
  • Maintain sales records and files according to Allied’s Records Retention Policy.
  • Use proper discretion in selling trials, reporting all pertinent information on the proposed trial and the final results of the trial. All trials are subject to review before acceptance.
  • Prepare customer and product‑line forecasts, as requested.
  • Keep management updated on all new product opportunities and applications.
  • Set goals and targets within assigned territory each year and actively work to achieve them.
  • Operate within established budgets and financial guidelines
Other Duties
  • Work safely and correctly at all times. Follow all health and safety rules, laws, and regulations.
  • Follow all company rules and regulations.
  • Administer and comply with EEOC, ADA, local, state, federal laws and regulations.
Qualifications
  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or college in Metallurgical, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Ceramic or other Engineering related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the investment casting industry is required.
  • The ability to read and understand engineering drawings and demonstrate the ability to do so during the interview process, if requested.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
