Amazon Web Services is hiring a Manufacturing Engineer for our Electrical Products and Services Engineering team. The team is part of a global engineering organization responsible for designing and continually innovating products used within our expanding data center footprint. The role involves designing and developing resilient, cost‑effective electrical distribution products and systems, driving continuous improvement, and communicating technical direction to Senior Management.
Key Responsibilities- Drive design improvement with the product development team informed by customer and contract manufacturer feedback and data
- Provide oversight and guidance to contract manufacturers during all phases of new product introduction and drive process discipline within AWS and vendor teams
- Work with the quality team to improve quality metrics at contract manufacturers/vendors
- Root cause customer‑impacting issues and drive resolution
- Work with contract manufacturers to drive cycle‑time improvements leading to realized cost reductions
- Improve processes to simplify and drive efficiencies in the supply chain
- Provide guidance to program management teams and leadership to drive strategic business decisions regarding the contract manufacturing supply base
- Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field
- 5+ years leading industrialization of electrical and mechanical products
- Demonstrated track record of driving manufacturing documentation creation, including assembly drawings and ingestion into Product Lifecycle Manager
- Master’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical engineering or equivalent
- Experience performing complex business case analysis to justify technical decisions and presenting the justification to management in a high‑level review
- Experience with the project management of technical projects
- Experience driving supply‑chain improvement projects
- Working knowledge of various ERP systems to provide guidance to contract manufacturers
- Knowledge of typical data center designs and architectures
Positions are available in Herndon, VA;
Austin, TX; and Columbus, OH.
Salary ranges:
- Herndon, VA: $ – $ USD annually
- Austin, TX: $ – $ USD annually
- Columbus, OH: $ – $ USD annually
