Job Description

The Structural Revit Technician supports the design and production of structural engineering projects by creating and managing detailed 3D models and construction documents. This role works closely with structural engineers and project leaders to translate engineering concepts into accurate, high-quality drawings and models using Revit and related design tools. It is an excellent opportunity for an early-to-mid career professional who enjoys technical drafting, problem-solving in three dimensions, and contributing to a collaborative structural engineering team within a stable, growing firm.

Responsibilities

+ Develop and maintain detailed Revit models for structural systems, including steel, concrete, masonry, and foundation elements.

+ Produce complete construction drawing sets, including plans, sections, and details, for structural projects.

+ Collaborate closely with structural engineers to interpret design intent and ensure accurate and constructible 3D modeling.

+ Prepare and update shop drawing-level details and structural components to support project documentation.

+ Coordinate structural models with multi-disciplinary teams, including civil, architectural, and MEP disciplines.

+ Perform clash detection and quality checks within Revit and related design tools, as applicable, to identify and resolve conflicts.

+ Maintain and apply drawing standards, templates, and project documentation protocols across all assigned projects.

+ Assist with revisions, markups, and project updates throughout all phases of design and documentation.

+ Support engineers with quantity takeoffs and basic design documentation as needed.

+ Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining accuracy, consistency, and timely delivery of drawings and models.

Essential Skills

+ 0 to 10 years of relevant work experience in structural drafting or a closely related field.

+ Proficiency in Revit for structural modeling and documentation.

+ Proficiency in AutoCAD for drafting and coordination tasks.

+ Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications for project-related documentation and communication.

+ Working knowledge of Adobe software for handling project documents and graphics.

+ Working knowledge of Bluebeam for reviewing, marking up, and managing construction documents.

+ Ability to develop and manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.

+ Strong attention to detail with the ability to visualize and comprehend structures in three dimensions.

+ Fundamental understanding of structural engineering concepts as they apply to drafting and modeling.

+ Prior exposure to structural drafting for building construction.

Additional

Skills & Qualifications

+ Associate's degree in CAD, civil engineering, technical drafting, or a closely related discipline.

+ Fundamental knowledge of Revit gained through education, training, or professional experience.

+ Experience preparing construction documents, including plans, sections, and details, for structural projects.

+ Experience coordinating with civil, architectural, and MEP disciplines in a design or construction environment.

+ Demonstrated ability to maintain drawing standards, templates, and documentation procedures.

+ Detail-oriented mindset with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

+ Interest in growing within a structural engineering team and developing advanced Revit and drafting capabilities over time.

Work Environment

This role is primarily based in an office environment where the Structural Revit Technician works closely with engineers and project teams. The position relies on daily use of Revit and AutoCAD for structural modeling and drafting, as well as Microsoft Office, Adobe, and Bluebeam for documentation, coordination, and review. The work setting emphasizes collaboration, stability, and continuous growth within a long-established structural engineering practice.

The position starts as in-office, with the potential for increased flexibility once the technician gains experience and becomes comfortable with the firm's standards, workflows, and project requirements.
