Qualifications & Requirements- Bachelor's degree (MS preferred) in water resources/environmental/ecological engineering, or other related degree from an accredited program;
- Professional Engineer (PE) certification in Ohio with 5 to 10 years of relevant experience, minimum;
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil3D and working knowledge of stream morphology, hydrology, and landscape ecology;
- Experience in preparing stream and wetland restoration construction plans, bid document preparation, and technical specifications;
- Strong organizational skills, ability to work in a team environment, and ability to manage multiple tasks with strong attention to detail and minimal guidance or direction.

About the RoleAs a Water Resources Engineer in the Ohio Ecosystem Restoration Group at Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC), you will provide technical, production and implementation support, leadership, and expertise on ecosystem restoration and green infrastructure projects throughout Ohio and adjacent states. In the Do, Manage, Market, Leadership progression, you will contribute to a multi-disciplinary restoration team atmosphere where all colleagues, including leadership, support project conceptualization, implementation and delivery of small and large-scale restoration projects.
Work will be focused on stream channel restoration, dam removal, wetland restoration, floodplain restoration, abandoned mine lands reclamation, and green best management practices (BMPs) for stormwater management, including the use of nature-based restoration approaches for water quality benefits in urban environments.
Exposure to Task Management, Personnel Management, Business Development, and Project Leadership responsibilities within the Team commensurate with experience and demonstrated performance. Our projects can be complex, with many constraints and the Candidate will be asked to work in a fast-paced, client-driven, flexible environment with design targets and goals that can evolve constantly through their lifespan. Ideal Candidate will need to independently manage their contributions and commitments across many different teams, clients and projects.
Key Responsibilities- Work as a design engineer under direction, in collaboration, and at times through leadership on ecosystem restoration projects;
- Provide ongoing mentorship to early and mid-career staff;
- Prepare grading plans, quantity calculations, erosion control plans, cost estimates, technical specifications, and bid document preparation;
- Conduct hydrologic assessments, water balances, and data analysis in support of, as well as designing natural stream channels, wetland and floodplain restoration, green stormwater infrastructure, and decommissioning of low-head dams;
- Construction administration;
- Manage clients and engage in business development opportunities to foster client relationships.
