Systems Engineer
Principal Cloud Engineer – Full Time – Permanent
Location:
Columbus, OH (must relocate if outside commutable distance). Relocation assistance provided.
Way of work:
Hybrid (3 days on location). Salary: $133,400 - $200,100 plus 10% annual bonus.
Principal Engineers in NiSource IT design, develop, and implement technical solutions across products and platforms. Work on agile product and platform teams, solving complex problems and collaborating cross‑functionally to deliver high‑quality outcomes. Expertise in Microsoft Azure, cloud deployment strategies, operational and financial management, security best practices, and integration of on‑premises systems with SaaS and cloud applications. Oversee cloud‑based data solutions, including analytics platforms, data lakes, and storage architectures.
Responsibilities- Assist in the design, development, and implementation of solutions for assigned technical product/platform.
- Develop and implement solutions that enhance the functionality and performance of assigned products or platforms.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (developers, analysts, service providers, stakeholders) to understand requirements and deliver effective solutions.
- Review code and configuration to ensure quality standards and best practices.
- Troubleshoot and support—diagnose technical issues and provide maintenance for existing systems.
- Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies and contribute to continuous improvement.
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
- 10+ years of experience in infrastructure, cloud, or data center domain.
- Expertise in designing and deploying multi‑cloud solutions across Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
- Experience with enterprise‑wide cloud governance policies for scalability, compliance, and security.
- Lead efforts to optimize cloud infrastructure for cost‑effectiveness, performance, and resiliency.
- Develop cloud‑native solutions using serverless architectures, containerization, and managed services.
- Design and implement disaster recovery strategies across hybrid and cloud environments.
- Drive innovation in container orchestration using Kubernetes.
- Professional certifications in relevant IT areas.
- Experience in a similar industry or sector.
- Mentoring junior engineers and promoting career growth.
