Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist
Hyster-Yale Materials Handling, Inc, a world‑class manufacturer of industrial lift trucks, has an outstanding opportunity at its Parts & Distribution Center for an exceptional and talented Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist I-II, based out of Avon, IN.
What You Will Do:- Lead identification, development, and implementation of EHS programs and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with EHS, ISO
14001/ISO
45001, NFPA, and all State and Federal regulations and requirements. - Lead EHS initiatives in a project management capacity.
- Drive improved EHS and overall facility performance aligned with company standards for safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency.
- Provide leadership in EHS training development, delivery, and continuous improvement.
- Develop processes for tracking, reporting, and maintaining training materials and compliance documentation.
- Manage Workers Compensation programs, including case management, investigations, and coordination with Third Party Administrator.
- Serve as company representative in Workers Compensation‑related proceedings.
- Lead safety program development, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives including Value Stream Mapping and Kaizen events.
- Oversee accident investigations, safety committee collaboration, and implementation of corrective actions.
- Play a key role in meeting all EHS compliance requirements and coordination of various EHS programs.
- Provide EHS expertise and lead support across all EHS functions through administration, program coordination, and data‑driven initiatives.
- Serve as Site Document Coordinator (SDC) for all SMS, EHS, and EMS documents for the Plant.
- Strong leader with the ability to drive EHS initiatives and influence outcomes.
- Strategic thinker with a proactive approach to risk identification and mitigation.

Education
- Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline (e.g., Occupational Safety, Safety Sciences, Environmental Engineering), or equivalent experience.
Experience
- Preferred: 1–3 years of broad Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) experience within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- In lieu of a degree: 4–6 years of progressive, directly related EHS experience may be considered.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline (e.g., Occupational Safety, Safety Sciences, Environmental Engineering), or equivalent experience.
Experience
- Preferred: 4–7 years of broad Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) experience within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- In lieu of a degree: 8–12 years of progressive, directly related EHS experience may be considered.
- Demonstrable understanding of mechanical and electrical (AC and DC) troubleshooting.
- Strong knowledge of Federal and State environmental health and safety regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT, RCRA, EPCRA, TSCA, NPDES, CAA, PSM/RMP, SPPP/SPCC).
- Experience managing Workers Compensation programs and legal coordination.
- Strong communication, presentation, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational, prioritization, and planning abilities.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data tracking systems.
- Knowledge of ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems (EMS) and ISO
45001 Occupational Safety Management Systems (SMS). - Project Management experience or exposure preferred.
- Experience leading training programs and continuous improvement initiatives.
