Data Center Construction QA / QC Manager – Columbus, OH

Job Overview

The QA/QC Manager will manage the overall quality of data center construction projects, focusing on installation and commissioning of key infrastructure systems in accordance with company policies and procedures. The role coordinates the commissioning schedule with the master schedule, reports status to senior leadership and clients, leads commissioning processes, and manages MEP construction coordination with contractors and vendors. The manager also creates process documentation, develops operational procedures, and supports mission‑critical O&M initiatives.

Responsibilities
  • Perform periodic site walk‑throughs to ensure procedures and standards are followed.
  • Manage and perform level 1‑3 commissioning procedures for the data center project.
  • Communicate operational status with senior management.
  • Accept and commission the facility to meet company standards.
  • Develop and approve procedures / MOPs for DC build and data‑hall work.
  • Supervise on‑site management of facility managers, technicians, subcontractors and vendors ensuring level 1‑3 commissioning is performed per practices and procedures.
  • Manage client relationships and act as escalation point for the site.
  • Establish performance benchmarks, conduct analyses and prepare reports on critical facility operations and maintenance.
  • Coordinate projects with business leaders, manage capacity and optimize plant safety, performance, reliability and efficiency.
  • Review MOPs and SOPs for all work on critical data‑center facility equipment.
  • Maintain constant readiness to support mission goal of 99.999% uptime.
  • Conduct O&M program analysis and reporting for critical facilities.
  • Design critical environment programs for internal and external clients.
  • Coordinate with design/construction team.
  • Assess, recommend and implement industry best practices in critical environment programs.
  • Develop process documentation and training materials.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or relevant experience (military a plus).
  • Certifications as a commissioning professional (BCxP, CxA, CCP, etc.) a plus.
  • NETA / NICET certification a plus.
  • Journeyman or Master’s License in MEP a plus.
  • 5‑10 + years of data center facility construction and commissioning experience.
  • Data center project experience on projects 5 MW or larger a plus.
  • 3‑5 years of QA/QC, commissioning, MEP coordination, or related experience.
  • Previous experience with a GC or third‑party CxA company a huge plus.
  • Solid understanding of critical electrical power systems or mechanical/HVAC equipment in a data center.
  • Experience with military/criminal veterans a huge plus; knowledge of electrical/mechanical naval and army equipment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project, Outlook, Teams, etc.).
  • Experience with BIM 360 / ACC, CxAlloy, end‑user ACMS as needed.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, presentation skills.
  • Superior analytical, planning and problem‑resolution skills.
  • Highly organized, self‑motivated project management abilities.
  • Strong customer‑service skills.
  • Open to travel M‑F, home weekends, limited travel near a project.
  • Relocation available.
