We are Morton Thomas and Associates (AMT), an ENR 500 A/E firm providing civil engineering, construction management, traffic design, water and wastewater, environmental and landscape architecture services.
Position OverviewTransportation Engineer with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, based in Columbus, OH. The role supports various projects involving data collection, condition assessment, alternative analysis, engineering reports, horizontal/vertical alignments, cross sections, superelevation, roadside barrier, ADA curb ramp, roadway modeling, MOT/traffic plans, and more. The candidate may also assist other AMT offices.
Responsibilities- Collect data and evaluate existing conditions and alternatives for engineering reports.
- Develop horizontal and vertical alignments.
- Perform cross section and superelevation design.
- Design roadside barriers and ADA curb ramps.
- Execute roadway modeling and MOT/traffic-related plans.
- Prepare cost estimating, specifications, and highway plans for bid packages.
- Adhere to transportation design standards and project requirements.
- Maintain positive working relationships with team members and clients.
- BS in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited institution.
- Minimum five years of relevant experience.
- Ohio PE license required or ability to obtain within six months of hire.
- Strong knowledge of civil engineering design concepts.
- Experience with roadway transportation design, cost estimating, specifications, and highway plans.
- Proficiency in transportation design standards.
- Experience with Micro Station and Open Roads Designer (ORD).
- Prior work experience with ODOT required; experience with City of Columbus preferred; other state DOTs or municipalities a plus.
- Desirable:
Experience with ORD intersection/roadway corridor modeling, AutoCAD/Civil3D, GIS (ArcGIS or Google Earth), SignCAD, Auto Turn. - Completion of ODOT prequalification courses is a plus.
- Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel).
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
