Are you ready to take the next step in your career by leading a variety of transportation projects while continuing to grow as a project manager? Burgess & Niple is seeking a Roadway Engineer / Project Manager to join our established Columbus transportation team. With a strong backlog of recently awarded work, this role offers the opportunity to lead and deliver impactful projects across Ohio, including new interchanges, modern roundabouts, city street widenings, and preliminary engineering studies.
This position goes beyond traditional project management, with a primary focus on leading roadway design projects from concept through delivery across Ohio. As a member of the team, you’ll also have the opportunity to contribute to our continued growth by supporting pursuit strategies with ODOT and local agencies.
Roadway Engineer / Project Manager Responsibilities- Lead transportation projects for ODOT and local agencies, building on existing relationships and developing new partnerships throughout Ohio
- Champion quality and technical excellence; facilitate project reviews and ensure designs align with ODOT and local agency standards and preferences
- Drive project success; lead design teams and proactively manage scope, schedule, budget, and risk
- Take ownership of deliverables; ensure high-quality work products that reflect B&N’s commitment to excellence
- Mentor and develop emerging engineers and collaborate with Operations Leaders, Project Managers, and technical experts across the firm to strengthen our team
- Help grow the practice, support proposal development, participate in client engagement efforts, and contribute to strategic pursuits with state and local agencies
- Bachelor of Science degree from an ABET accredited civil or transportation engineering program
- PE registration in the State of Ohio, or ability to be registered with reciprocity
- 6+ years of roadway design experience, along with demonstrated project management experience. Familiarity with ODOT design standards and processes is beneficial but not required
- Demonstrated experience leading roadway design tasks or serving as the roadway design lead on transportation projects
- Familiarity with proposal development and client relationship management efforts. Existing relationships with ODOT or Ohio local agencies a plus
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, experience using Bentley Open Roads and/or Autodesk Civil 3D a plus
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Self-directed, adaptable professional with the ability to effectively utilize virtual collaboration platforms
