Akkodis is seeking a 3
DCS Engineering Lead / Dimensional Engineering SME for a full‑time role on our dedicated team for the next several years in the Columbus Metropolitan area. You’ll be responsible as the on‑site technical lead for dimensional engineering activities supporting vehicle development and manufacturing programs. This individual will act as the primary subject‑matter expert for 3
DCS modeling, tolerance analysis, and dimensional engineering strategy, while coordinating with additional engineering resources, including potential offshore support teams.
This is not a role focused on simply automating 3
DCS outputs or generating reports. Akkodis is looking for an experienced engineer capable of leveraging dimensional analysis to make and influence engineering decisions related to product design, manufacturing processes, and overall vehicle quality. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in 3
DCS, tolerance stack‑up analysis, GD&T, and dimensional engineering principles, along with the ability to communicate recommendations to design and manufacturing stakeholders.
Starting Pay Range: $130,000 to $200,000/yr (salary commensurate based on experience and education levels).
3DCS Modeling & Analysis
- Develop, maintain, and execute the complex 3
DCS models for vehicle systems and components. - Perform dimensional variation analysis and tolerance stack‑up studies to identify the sources of variation and manufacturing risk.
- Analyze assembly variation and provide the recommendations to improve product quality and manufacturability.
- Build robust simulation models that accurately represent the product and manufacturing conditions.
- Serve as onsite 3
DCS and Dimensional Engineering Subject Matter Expert (SME). - Lead the dimensional engineering activities across multiple vehicle development programs.
- Define and establish dimensional engineering processes, methodologies, and best practices.
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to our supporting engineering resources.
- Recommend design tolerances and specifications.
- Influence manufacturing process specifications and control strategies.
- Support root cause analysis and corrective actions related to dimensional concerns.
- Present technical findings and recommendations to cross‑functional stakeholders and leadership.
- Partner closely with Manufacturing Engineering, CAE Teams, Quality Engineering, Production Operations.
- Coordinate and direct additional engineering support resources, including remote and offshore team members as needed.
- Evaluate product designs for manufacturability and dimensional robustness.
- Identify opportunities to reduce variation and improve assembly performance.
- Support the development of robust manufacturing processes and tolerance strategies.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
- Greater than 7+ years of professional experience in Dimensional Engineering, Tolerance Analysis, Variation Simulation, and Vehicle or complex product development environments.
- Advanced expertise with 3
DCS, GD&T, Tolerance stack‑up analysis, Statistical variation analysis, and Assembly variation simulation. - Demonstrated experience building and executing 3
DCS models, developing dimensional strategies and processes, making engineering recommendations based on dimensional analysis, and influencing design and manufacturing decisions.
- Automotive OEM experience strongly preferred.
- Experience supporting Body structures, Closures, Interior systems, Powertrain assemblies, and Vehicle integration activities.
- Experience leading dimensional engineering teams or serving as a technical lead.
- Familiarity with CAD platforms such as CATIA, NX, Creo.
- Experience working within highly collaborative, cross‑functional engineering organizations.
