Project Engineer - HVAC Safety - Columbus, Ohio

Intertek is seeking a Project Engineer - HVAC Safety to join our Electrical team in Columbus, Ohio.

Base salary $80,000-$100,000. Total compensation includes medical, dental, vision, life, disability, 401(k) with company match, generous PTO, tuition reimbursement and additional benefits.

• Read and determine applicability of national codes and standards clauses for the equipment under test (EUT).
• Perform testing of products in accordance with standards, including rating, leakage current, dielectric, temperature, pressure, stability, mechanical hazard, flammability, abnormal and fault insurance, rain, radiation, sound, and laser.
• Mentor less senior technical personnel.
• Supply information for quotes such as project length, site needs, rental equipment, samples, and applicable standards.
• Set up and operate standard test equipment (spectrum analyzer, oscilloscope, multimeter, dielectric strength tester, ground continuity tester, surge generator, over-voltage tester, environmental chamber, articulated probes) and use hand tools to build/calibrate test fixtures.
• Follow sample handling procedures, log samples in and out of the system, move equipment as needed, and properly package samples for shipment.
• Provide sales support such as attending client visits.
• Communicate project status and test results to client, sales personnel, and management throughout testing.
• Provide ongoing support to clients as needed.
• Perform other duties as required.

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a directly related field.
• Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
• A valid driver’s license and reliable driving record.
• Experience with HVAC Safety testing and certification.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment with shifting priorities and demanding deadlines.
• Detail-oriented with strong prioritization, organization, and time-management skills.
• Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
• Customer-focused and quality-driven mindset.
• Adherence to safety practices and policies to ensure personal and workplace safety.

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering.
• HVAC experience.
• Engineer in Training (EIT) certification.
• Prior project management experience.
• Knowledge of U.S., Canadian, and other international product safety standards (ANSI, CSA, UL, EN, IEC).
