We are seeking a highly technical Senior / Principal Mechanical Engineer to join an Advanced Development team focused on next-generation thermal and cooling technologies for data centers and mission-critical infrastructure.
This role sits at the forefront of innovation—evaluating emerging technologies, partnering with external companies, and driving advanced R&D initiatives that shape future product strategy. You will operate at the intersection of engineering, technology scouting, and product innovation
, helping determine whether to build, buy, partner, or integrate new solutions
.
- Lead advanced development engineering efforts from concept through prototype validation for next-gen thermal systems
- Evaluate new technologies, startups, and competitors to determine integration, partnership, or acquisition opportunities
- Collaborate with product managers and internal stakeholders to solve customer-driven pain points (Horizon 2/3 initiatives)
- Conduct technical assessments, benchmarking, and comparative analysis of emerging solutions
- Develop design guidelines and technical documentation for transition to New Product Introduction (NPI) teams
- Perform thermal analysis, modeling, and testing (heat transfer, fluid dynamics, cooling systems)
- Interface with external partners (companies, labs, universities) to evaluate and advance new technologies
- Influence technology strategy and contribute to long‑term product roadmap development
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
- 10+ years of engineering experience (flexible for strong candidates)
- Strong background in, Thermodynamics, Heat transfer, or Fluid mechanics
- Experience leading projects from concept through prototyping/validation
- Proven ability to work cross‑functionally across engineering, product, and external partners
- Strong communication skills with both technical and non‑technical audiences
- Experience in thermal management, cooling systems, or data center infrastructure
- Exposure to:
- CFD / FEA tools (e.g., Ansys)
- Advanced modeling or simulation tools
- Experience evaluating or integrating external technologies
- Background in R&D, NPI/NPD, or advanced engineering teams
- Experience with emerging tech scouting, partnerships, or M&A support
- Team size: ~6 engineers (recent backfills needed)
- Work split: ~75% project execution / 25% technology scouting
