Position: WATER RESOURCES ENGINEER, PE

We partner with public and private clients to solve complex challenges involving stormwater management, watershed planning, flood mitigation, and community resilience.

We are looking for a Water Resources Engineer, PE to join our Water Resource team located in Columbus, OH. This position offers the opportunity to manage impactful projects, mentor technical staff, and help communities address flooding and stormwater challenges through data-driven engineering solutions. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, FEMA floodplain studies, flood risk assessment and mapping, stormwater system design, and mitigation planning.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the planning, analysis, design, calculations, and delivery of water resources and stormwater engineering projects and studies.
  • Works independently and as part of a collaborative team with other engineering professionals around the company.
  • Conduct and oversee hydrologic and hydraulic modeling for watersheds, streams, rivers, culverts, bridges, and stormwater systems.
  • Prepare and review flood risk assessments, drainage studies, watershed master plans, and flood mitigation strategies.
  • Lead and/or support proposal development efforts, including scope definition, technical approach, staffing plans, schedules, and fee estimates.
  • Develop FEMA flood plain mapping studies, Letters of Map Revision, Conditional Letters of Map Revision, and floodplain permitting documentation.
  • Design stormwater management systems including detention, retention, conveyance, green infrastructure, and low-impact development solutions.
  • Coordinate with local, state, and federal agencies, including FEMA, USACE, EPA, and state environmental agencies.
  • Perform field assessments and complete the associated technical documentation.
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, quality control, and client communications.
  • Assist and/or lead client meetings, develop agendas, and manage follow-up work assignments.
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers and technical staff.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Minimum 4-8 years of experience in water resources engineering, stormwater management, and floodplain management.
  • Significant experience modeling software applications such as HydroCAD and HEC-RAS.
  • Master’s degree in civil engineering with a focus on water resources, preferred.
  • Strong technical report writing ability.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and GIS platforms to support engineering design, spatial analysis, and the development of stormwater management and floodplain studies.
