Amazon Web Services (AWS) seeks a Retro Commissioning Engineer to optimize performance of data centers across the Central US. You will lead retro-commissioning of mechanical, electrical, and controls systems, using data to improve reliability, uptime, and energy efficiency. Responsibilities include developing test plans, executing functional performance tests, diagnosing root causes, and implementing corrective actions with cross-functional teams. You'll author detailed technical reports, influence design standards, and drive continuous improvement in a fast-paced, high-ownership environment supporting mission-critical cloud infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Lead retro-commissioning of AWS data center and critical facility systems across the Central region
- Analyze BAS, mechanical, electrical, and controls data to optimize performance, reliability, and energy efficiency
- Develop and execute test procedures, functional performance tests, and root-cause analysis for system issues
- Collaborate with design, operations, and construction teams to implement corrective actions and performance improvements
- Create detailed technical reports, recommendations, and documentation for stakeholders
- Support standards development and continuous improvement of commissioning processes
- Ensure compliance with safety, reliability, and industry standards for mission-critical infrastructure
- Use data analytics tools to identify performance trends and drive optimization projects
Required Skills
- Retro-commissioning (RCx) of MEP systems
- Building automation systems (BAS) and controls
- Mechanical and electrical systems in mission-critical facilities
- HVAC system design and operation
- Data analysis and performance trending for building systems
- Functional performance testing and troubleshooting
- Energy efficiency and optimization strategies
- Technical report writing and documentation
- Project management and coordination
- Familiarity with ASHRAE and industry commissioning guidelines
