IMEG is hiring a Mechanical Engineering Intern in Columbus, OH to support the analysis, design, and implementation oversight of mechanical systems for the vertical building industry. This paid summer internship offers hands-on experience over 10-12 weeks with exposure to HVAC-focused work and real project deliverables.
You will work within project budgets, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and support project goals and client expectations across healthcare-focused MEP work. You will also assist with HVAC-related design tasks while contributing to high-performance, energy-efficient design aligned with MEP
2050 and AIA
2030.

- Assist with design portions of mechanical systems according to code and IMEG standards
- Assist with researching commercially available equipment
- Support client relations, project design notebook maintenance, and permanent record documentation
- Coordinate design and schedule activities with other disciplines, including architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, technology, clerical, and equipment suppliers
- Document design decisions, meetings, and client instructions while monitoring project design progress
- Assist with reviewing project documents for accuracy and completeness prior to final check
- Assist with preparing and issuing addendum information
- Conduct periodic job site observations and other services required by the contract services agreement
- Work within the project’s monetary budget
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations
- Completed at least 2 years towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent required
- Strong interest in design consulting
- Proficient with MS Office Suite including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Skilled in AutoCAD and/or Building Information Modeling (BIM) software
- Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
- Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred
