You will oversee the successful execution of engineering projects, ensuring adherence to quality standards, timelines, and budgetary constraints. The Technical Lead plays a crucial role in driving project success and maintaining client satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle. Critical functions include developing new client relationships, navigating the contract cycles of new clients, hiring and training employees on new client systems, and driving regional revenue growth.

Other technical responsibilities of this position include providing consultation with clients and prospective clients to identify potential power distribution needs, performing system studies, and providing detailed engineering support in the planning of power distribution projects.

Pay: $- $ per year DOE Key Technical Skills Required
  • 10+ years of experience in the electrical distribution design industry preferred.
  • Experience leading a team of project managers and designers.
  • Project management experience required, including experience managing and growing a design team.
  • Experience developing and managing project managers.
  • Experience managing client expectations and developing business.
  • Experience with proposal preparation, including scope, schedule, and fee development, as well as contract management and billing.
  • Strong design knowledge in electrical distribution required.
  • Ability to prepare written technical proposals, assemble teams to meet client criteria, and develop professional relationships.
  • Demonstrated leadership with broad knowledge of the processes required to develop design packages utilizing utility design standards.
  • Ability to train and develop staff.
  • Successful candidate should have local client contacts and the ability to develop and bring in new business.
Key Responsibilities Client and Project Management
  • Develop business with new and existing clients.
  • Manage and strengthen client relationships.
  • Establish project-specific scopes of services and fees for leadership and client approval.
  • Plan, develop, coordinate, and direct large projects or engineering programs.
  • Supervise technical teams in the production of design documents, calculations, plans, and specifications.
  • Conduct research in a variety of areas and levels of complexity related to power generation and power delivery systems.
  • Demonstrate the ability and willingness to research and work in different geographies.
  • Serve as a technical specialist, applying advanced theories and concepts.
  • Assist with or lead the development of proposals, negotiations, and client presentations.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to support client relationship development and business growth.
  • Manage work routines and assign job activities.
  • Attend and actively participate in project team meetings.
  • Provide task performance and project status reports.
  • Coordinate with other internal practices and sub-consultants.
  • Provide technical oversight and guidance to project teams.
Training, Development, and Compliance
  • Mentor, train, and develop staff.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure projects comply with applicable ISO standards and client requirements.
  • Conduct employee performance appraisals, when applicable.
  • Develop professional relationships through active participation in industry associations and community involvement.
  • Identify and assist in attracting qualified talent to the organization.
Financial Management and Reporting
  • Complete all assigned tasks on time and within budget while fully meeting project scope requirements.
  • Operate within established corporate and project budget parameters.
  • Assist with receivables management.
  • Work with Project Managers to actively manage project budgets.
