Job SummaryResponsible for the engineering design and drafting of the most cost-effective, accurate and high quality OSP and/or ISP work/fine prints while meeting or exceeding all client deadlines. Design requirements vary by project (client/region/district/job type).
Duties / Responsibilities- Work in various customer specific systems to produce a cost-effective engineered design for construction to place, splice, install and maintain for many years to come.
- Identify assigned fiber/copper pairs at strategic access points and design an aerial and/or underground path from point A to point
B. - Identify the necessary requirements to successfully attach fiber/copper cables to poles as well as place cables in the underground environments.
- Engineer in the public right of way and on private property avoiding conflict with existing facilities.
- Initiate internal work order requests for other departments necessary to complete entire project.
- Update necessary tracking system(s) to ensure project and/or program status is maintained with complete accuracy, including third party management systems.
- Communicate all issues to management prior to reaching critical status.
- Develop and maintain accurate and complete files for projects, monitoring for integrity and completeness.
- Always meet or exceed internal and external quality standards, and on-time delivery.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Office 365, SharePoint and MS Excel Knowledge & experience in AutoCAD, Micro Station, GIS or client proprietary design systems - Knowledge & experience with project management processes, tools, and the ability to coordinate multiple projects with reproducible results
- Bachelor’s degree in STEM discipline preferred
- Construction experience preferred
- Field experience preferred
- Knowledge & experience in telecommunications, outside plant engineering design or field inspection, and/or network construction
- Knowledge of fiber networking, routing, and network management
- Knowledge and understanding of various broadband network designs and architecture
- Beginner knowledge & understanding of engineering concepts, and how fielding, planning, engineering, and construction parts of a job align
- Beginner knowledge & ability to learn how to design work prints for multiple job types
- Sitting:
Frequently required to sit for extended periods, especially when working at a computer or desk. - Manual Dexterity:
Regular use of hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls (e.g., typing, using a mouse, handling documents). - Reaching:
Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. - Communication:
Must be able to talk and hear clearly for effective communication. - Environment:
Typically works in a semi-quiet office environment, though some roles may involve occasional site visits. - Mobility:
Occasionally required to walk or stand for long periods.
An Engineer I, II or III title differentiation lies in the experience and/or skill level of the individual.
