Position: Valet Drivers - OSU Wexner Medical Center - $15/hr plus tips and bonuses

Job Details

Hospital Valet Driver – OSU Wexner Medical Center, Main Campus. Starting pay of $15 per hour plus $5–$9 per hour in tips and per‑vehicle bonuses, plus eligible bonuses and benefits.

Benefits for full‑time and part‑time employees include medical, dental, vision, accident insurance, critical illness insurance, hospital indemnity insurance, telemedicine benefits, and enrollment in a company 401(k) retirement savings plan. Eligibility requirements depend on job classification, length of employment, and hours worked. Seasonal and temporary roles are not eligible for the full benefit package.

Shifts available:
Weekdays (mid shift), 2nd shift, and overnight. Work schedule may include weekdays, weekends, and all shifts.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Maintain a pleasant, friendly, and professional demeanor with all guests, co‑workers, and clients.
  • Greet guests within five feet with a professional, friendly demeanor, using the guest’s last name and a salutation of the day.
  • Park and retrieve vehicles slowly and cautiously, ensuring vehicle safety and efficient service.
  • Assist guests with bell services and luggage storage as needed, open vehicle and hotel doors, and provide directions, taxis, reservations, and other inquiries.
  • Explain parking rates and retrieval procedures, issue claim checks after receiving vehicle keys, and collect them before returning keys.
  • Maintain accurate ticket information, including key tags, guest folio, vehicle location, damage surveys, and claim check receipts.
  • Calculate and collect revenue for vehicles when required.
Qualifications

Education
:
High school diploma or general educational development (GED) required.

Licensure & Certification
:
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; must be at least 18 years of age and able to pass a criminal background check and drug screen.

Work Experience
:
At least one month of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge & Skills
:

  • Customer and personal service principles and processes.
  • Standard English reading, writing, and comprehension of simple instructions and correspondence.
  • Basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) involving American money and rates on a 24‑hour/72‑hour military clock.
  • Manual transmission operation and parallel parking.
  • Ability to understand and respond to guest inquiries.
  • Understanding of parking rates and claim processes.
Work Conditions & Physical Demands

Regularly required to talk or hear, sit or stand for extended periods, run, walk, handle tools, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds occasionally, 50 pounds frequently, and 20 pounds constantly. Operations may be outdoors under extreme heat or cold weather. Travel up to 5% of the time may be required.
