Job Description

As a Consultant within Finance Data Governance – Data Integration & Quality, the role mitigates data risk across Finance, ensuring financial data accuracy, completeness, timeliness and protection. The associate partners closely with the Enterprise Data Office, data stewards, governance committees and finance business partners to support end‑to‑end data quality and governance processes.

Responsibilities
  • Support data governance, stewardship, and policy adherence to ensure consistent, controlled Finance data.
  • Consult on projects to assess data impacts, align with standards, and mitigate data risk.
  • Monitor critical data elements and execute data quality controls, reporting, and issue tracking.
  • Maintain finance glossary, data assets, metadata, and lineage across enterprise tools and processes.
  • Lead root cause analysis and coordinate resolution of data quality issues with cross‑functional partners.
  • Support operational processes to maintain the integrity of financial data.
  • Perform complex data analysis and trending related to financial activity, identifying root causes of data quality issues, and recommend solutions.
  • Document planning solutions, including business case development and road maps.
  • Communicate with a wide variety of audiences, exhibit presentation and facilitation skills, and conduct training for business partners and staff.
  • Serve as team lead for operational support for Finance back office processes, systems, and reports; recommend and maintain financial controls.
Key Responsibilities
  • Consults with Finance business partners to analyze, design, implement and operationalize solutions with emphasis on the integrity of Nationwide’s financial data; consults with financial and business unit leadership on complex, multi‑functional projects.
  • Develops, plans and coordinates complex financial projects for business units and the Office of Finance; delivers on all aspects of financial projects according to guidelines, budget, impact, scope and strategic focus.
  • Leads the impact analysis and manages the financial data elements owned by Finance Data Governance such as reference data, business rules, allocation rules; supports data governance applications and advises senior management on industry practices.
  • Ensures changes to Finance data flows and elements follow an established approval framework; defines and enforces standards around Finance data architecture.
  • Serves as a team lead in providing operational support for Finance back office processes, systems, and reports; recommends and maintains financial controls; provides audit support.
  • Performs complex data analysis and trending related to financial activity and environmental statistics; identifies root causes for data quality items and recommends solutions.
  • Exhibits expertise in design, development, maintenance and continuous improvement of business processes and procedures.
  • Partners with business units and Nationwide Technology in documenting planning solutions, including business case development and road maps.
  • Communicates with a wide variety of audiences; exhibits advanced presentation and facilitation skills; initiates and maintains relationships with key business partners; conducts training.
Reporting Relationships

Reports to Director/Associate Vice President.

Qualifications
  • Undergraduate studies in business, accounting, mathematics, computer science, management information systems or related field, with comparable work experience preferred.
  • At least eight years of progressive experience in planning, designing and implementing enterprise-wide business transformation initiatives.
  • Extensive experience in functional, process, information, data modeling, data management and warehousing, and application integration.
  • In-depth experience with process re-design methods and tools.
  • Accounting/finance background; process management; continuous improvement; project management and consulting skills.
  • Experience with interfaces, reference data, reporting, allocations; knowledge of SQL and other programming languages.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to learn new software and use common desktop tools.
