Overview
As a team member in Internal Audit at Nationwide, a Fortune 100 company, you will focus on audits for the Property & Casualty team and contribute to the organization’s customer‑centered values.
Location:
Columbus, Ohio or Scottsdale, Arizona. Employees are required to work in the office two days per week. This role is not eligible for employer‑sponsored work authorization. Nationwide does not participate in the STEM OPT extension program.
- Demonstrate high‑energy, flexibility, and strong communication skills while managing multiple assurance or advisory engagements.
- Lead engagements from planning to completion, ensuring authoritative use of auditing techniques and adherence to professional and internal standards. Identify key risks and controls, coordinate and review work performed by engagement staff, summarize issues, recommendations and conclusions in the engagement report, and manage client relations. Perform high‑complexity engagement tasks as required.
- Use analytics and data visualization tools to perform full‑population testing. Identify new ways to audit through data analytics, continuous auditing, or other technologies.
- Manage engagement teams of approximately 1‑10 associates. Assist with resource management activities and provide real‑time coaching and feedback on both soft and technical audit skills.
- Drive ongoing risk assessments that serve as an input to the risk‑based audit plan.
- Develop relationships across the enterprise to provide outstanding care to all customers and serve as a trusted business advisor to clients, internal risk partners and others.
- Contribute to initiatives and act as a change agent to make the unit more agile and innovative.
Reports to Audit Director or Audit Officer.
Skills & Experience- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in business, technical, or related field preferred; advanced degree preferred. - License/Certification/Designation:
Relevant certifications (e.g., CPA, CIA, CISA, CFE, PMP) desired. - Experience:
Typically, more than six years of experience in audit, risk management, or a related field. Experience in the insurance and financial services industry is preferred. - Knowledge, abilities and skills:
Skilled knowledge in audit, business and information technology concepts; operational knowledge of audit practices across multiple functional areas; project management and motivational theory; risk assessment; critical thinking and problem‑solving; strong verbal and written communication; collaboration and teamwork; strong organizational and leadership skills. - Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences, may take precedence.
