Sr Actuary, NF - Protected Retirement Product Development & Pricing Actuary

Job Description Summary

Senior Actuary – Protected Retirement Product Development & Pricing at Nationwide Financial. Responsible for product development, pricing, model building, regulatory filings, and strategy for group annuity solutions within defined contribution plans. Must balance profitability, competitiveness, compliance, and risk.

• Collaborate creatively with functional teams to develop solutions for customers.
• Assist in the development of actuarial pricing assumptions across mortality, lapse, expense, distribution, and other drivers.
• Build and modify AXIS pricing models and evaluate pricing results, including sensitivity tests, stochastic economic scenarios, embedded policy‑owner options, and tail‑risk analysis.
• Review competitive intelligence to support product design and charge structure.
• Assist with state and federal regulatory filings and prepare actuarial demonstrations for regulatory bodies.
• Prepare presentations and communications for the Product Risk Committee and senior management.
• Lead strategy and provide expertise on pricing and product implementation.
• Construct, maintain, and complete Actuarial, Projection & Valuation models across statutory, GAAP, and tax regimes.
• Analyze risks and reinsurance for lines of business and establish reserves and other valuation items.
• Build cohesive presentations and communication strategies tailored to technical and non‑technical audiences at the OCFO leadership level.

• FSA credential required.
• Strong analysis, problem‑solving, and communication abilities.
• Self‑motivated with ownership of projects and ability to drive completion.
• Experience with AXIS is strongly preferred.
• Team player with oral and written communication skills.
• Undergraduate degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, or related field.
• At least 8 years of actuarial experience in business functions, statistical methods, modeling, and industry‑regulatory practices.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (including VBA), analytical software such as Tableau, and programming languages.
• Knowledge of actuarial software, databases, and company systems.
• Strategic thinking, business perspective, and ability to influence and inspire others.

This role does not qualify for employer‑sponsored work authorization. Nationwide does not participate in the STEM OPT extension program.
