Director of Accounting

The Director, Accounting will meet the qualifications listed below and be primarily responsible for the complete financial records of the Ohio Hospital Association and its subsidiaries. This position reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer.

• Directly supervise the Accountant and the Accounting Specialist.
• Own and manage the month-end close calendar, ensuring timely completion of all close activities.
• Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations and supporting schedules prepared by staff to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Ensure timely and accurate recording of all financial transactions.
• Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and FASB standards.
• Prepare supporting schedules and internal financial reports for senior leadership and Audit/Finance Committee review.
• Assist with basic consolidations and financial reporting schedules for organization and subsidiaries.
• Coordinate audit requests and prepare required schedules and supporting documentation for external audit. Respond to external auditor inquiries in a timely manner.
• Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls; identify and elevate exceptions.
• Coordinate with external tax advisors on OHA and subsidiaries’ Form 990 and other required filings. Prepare supporting documentation and schedules for tax reporting as needed.
• Oversee accounts receivable processes, including membership dues billings and aging review.
• Oversee accounts payable processes, including coding, approvals and payment execution in Ramp.
• Maintain the general ledger in Sage Intacct, including chart of accounts and expense allocations.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency of accounting operations. Leverage accounting systems and tools to improve reporting and workflows.
• Collaborate with senior leadership and department staff on the annual budgeting process including gathering department input, compiling documentation and providing budget-to-actual reporting and variance analysis for senior leadership and department staff review.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field required;
  Master of Business Administration or CPA preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in non-profit accounting preferred.
• Advanced user knowledge of Microsoft Excel required; proficiency in accounting systems and database software required, with knowledge of Sage Intacct preferred.
• Knowledge of applicable accounting, audit, and IRS regulations, including GAAP and FASB.
• Managerial skills for team development, team management, and team productivity.
• Ability to communicate and work effectively with senior management, OHA Board members, and staff; excellent written communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment, handling multiple demands and deadlines simultaneously.
