What You’ll Be Doing
- Under direction of Investment Accounting Supervisor evaluates and coordinates outside investment manager trade communication with the custodial bank and master record keeper.
- Reviews daily investment manager bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy and timeliness and works with outside parties to resolve reconciling items.
- Designs and prepares ad hoc financial investment accounting reports and conducts special projects.
- Monitors investment portfolio to ensure compliance with BWC’s Investment Policy and the contract the investment manager was hired to manage.
- Maintains professional working relationships, works within defined production schedule, utilizes strong critical‑thinking skills to manage time efficiently, prioritizes tasks, resolves issues, and develops well‑supported conclusions.
Minimum Qualifications
- 42 months experience or training in accounting and/or finance with advanced spreadsheet skills or;
- Completion of an undergraduate core program in business administration, accounting, finance, or related field with 18 months experience or training in accounting and/or finance with advanced spreadsheet skills or;
- Completion of a graduate core program in business administration, accounting, finance, or related field with 6 months experience or training in accounting and/or finance with advanced spreadsheet skills or;
- 12 months experience as a Financial Analyst, classification 66562; or
- Equivalent of the minimum class qualifications for employment; successful completion of the Fiscal Academy may be substituted for 4 months of required accounting/fiscal experience.

Major Worker Characteristics
Knowledge of BWC policies & procedures, cost & financial accounting, applicable state & federal laws and regulations governing fiscal accounting and budgetary operations, BWC financial reporting policies & procedures, investment accounting & finance principles, compliance requirements for investment portfolios, asset classes & individual manager portfolios, trade communications, accounting information systems, investment information from the master record keeper and custodial bank, and performance calculations in compliance with Global Investment Performance Standards.
Skill in use of calculator; use of personal computer & peripheral equipment; investment accounting—including preparation of journal entries, reconciliation of portfolios & calculations; use of MS Office (Word, Access, Outlook) and MS Excel; communicating verbally & in writing to various levels within the organization.
Ability to read, interpret & analyze technical financial materials; recommend accounting & reporting changes as needed; manage complex & technical fiscal variables; gather, collate, classify information; coordinate reconciliations; prepare complex financial accounting reports; edit technical fiscal material; handle complex accounting issues; produce meaningful & accurate reports with recommendations; use proper research methods to gather data.
