Job Overview

Corporate Finance is seeking a Finance Director to lead a team of Financial Business Advisors supporting our P&C Technology organization. This role will build a high‑performing team that partners closely with technology and P&C finance leaders to influence investment decisions, challenge conventional thinking, and simplify complex financial information into actionable insights.

This role does not qualify for employer‑sponsored work authorization. Nationwide does not participate in the STEMOPT extension program. The role will be based in Columbus, OH, but applications from internal candidates working remotely who bring critical industry skills and relevant experience may be considered.

As a Director, you’ll contribute to effective management of Nationwide’s portfolio investment through results, people, and personal performance categories, providing financial, informational, administrative, advisory and analytical services to senior leaders relative to the coordination and management of the transformation project/program portfolio. You’ll develop and implement functional portfolio performance measures, track, analyze and communicate portfolio risk and performance.

  • Push for answers to solve for the root cause of a problem; weigh relevance and accuracy of information while challenging the team to seek out new sources of information to use in decision‑making.
  • Show ability to generate and evaluate alternatives to get to a recommended solution for the organization; offer suggestions to senior leaders that highlight new methods for approaching problems.
  • Show consideration for future consequences and trends; demonstrate forward‑thinking point of view in discussions.
  • Keep informed of new methods and technologies that will impact and improve the work of the team; use new techniques/tools to uplift the team’s skills.
  • Navigating change effectively and making logical recommendations to tackle problems even with partial or imperfect information; maintain productivity and poise even during times of uncertainty.
  • Work to build knowledge of organizational depth (understanding where specialized talent exists) and breadth (able to work with teams with varied strengths and skillsets across the organization) to drive outstanding results.
  • May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Reporting Relationships

Reports to Vice President/Officer. Manages a team of four or more financial professionals.

Typical Skills and Experiences
  • Education: Undergraduate studies in finance, economics, accounting or statistics; advanced degree in a financial field desired. Technical insurance coursework desirable.
  • License/Certification/Designation: CPA preferred.
