Position Summary

The Loan Officer (LO) plays a key role in supporting the mortgage lending process by assisting clients through their home‑financing journey. The LO works to develop relationships within the local real estate community and supports borrowers by guiding them through the loan process, from initial contact through to closing, while also collaborating with internal teams such as processing, underwriting, and closing.

This is a growth‑oriented position designed for individuals building their careers in mortgage lending.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain referral relationships with real estate agents, builders, and other industry professionals under the guidance of senior team members.
  • Make regular outreach efforts to potential and existing clients to generate new loan opportunities.
  • Assist borrowers with understanding loan options and gather necessary documentation for pre‑qualification and application.
  • Submit complete loan applications and follow up with clients and internal teams to ensure loans are moving smoothly through each stage.
  • Keep clients informed of loan status and assist with resolving any issues or delays.
  • Stay informed on current mortgage products, interest rates, and general market trends.
  • Always represent the company in a professional manner and uphold company values and standards.
  • Ensure all customer information is handled securely and confidentially.
Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Must meet requirements for Loan Officer licensure under the SAFE Act.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients and referral partners.
  • Self‑motivated with a desire to grow in the mortgage lending industry.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and willingness to learn industry‑specific software.
  • Ability to take direction and work collaboratively with more senior loan officers and internal support staff.
Experience and Training
  • High school diploma required; college coursework preferred.
  • 1‑2 years of experience in mortgage, banking, sales, or customer service is helpful but not required.
  • Understanding of basic mortgage products is preferred; training will be provided.
  • Meet current licensing and registration requirements under the SAFE Act, preferred.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Reporting to this position:
No direct reports.

Physical Demands
  • Mostly sedentary; occasionally required to walk, use handheld phone, reach with hands and arms, stoop, talk and hear.
  • Extensive reading and computer use is expected to be more than 50% of the time. Receiving and expressing detailed information verbally, in person and by telephone is essential. Must be able to verbally communicate effectively with others.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
  • Regular attendance is necessary and essential to this position.

Work Environment
  • Professional atmosphere in a branch environment.
  • May be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time.
  • Must observe care while driving – absolutely no texting while driving.
