Irenic Capital Management is an investment firm with ~$2.8B of assets under management. The firm invests in event driven situations with an activist overlay.

Irenic is hiring a Fund Accounting & Operations Manager to support and partner with our existing Assistant Controller and our CFO / CCO in building out our back-office infrastructure. The position is located in Columbus, Ohio.

The Irenic team comprises 22 people consisting of 16 investment, and 6 non-investment professionals. We have a collaborative, team-based culture that puts a high priority on intellectual honesty, candid debate, and excellence across all tasks. This role is an opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a growing firm, provides a wide range of exposure to different parts of the business, and can take on larger responsibilities as we scale.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with the review of month/quarter-end NAV reconciliation process, including investor allocations and statements, management / incentive fee calculations and expense accruals
  • Support the preparation and review of financial statements in coordination with the fund administrator and external auditors
  • Assist with oversight of the annual tax return process across all fund entities, including coordination of K-1 preparation and delivery to investors in partnership with external tax accountants
  • Assist with all aspects of trade allocation and settlement, PnL and exposure reporting, and treasury functions related to capital calls and distributions
  • Collaborate closely with outsourced service providers to manage cash and position reconciliation and trade affirmations
  • Liaise with counter parties, fund administrator, executing brokers, OMS/PMS vendor, relating to all portfolio and trade issues
  • Support business spend management and expense allocation software for tracking of vendors, budgeting, and invoices across management company and funds; coordinate on expense approvals, payments, reporting, and reconciliation
  • Assist with required regulatory filings, 13F, Form PF, Form ADV
  • Participate in the launch of new funds and special purpose vehicles alongside the back-office team, including reviewing legal documents, coordinating account openings, completing required forms, and following up with internal and external contacts
  • Prepare ad hoc requests from management and investment team members
  • Support investor relations functions including responding to ad hoc investor inquiries related to capital account statements, tax documents, and periodic reporting
  • Assist with management company financials, including vendor relationships, budgeting, and expense allocation across entities
  • Partner with the team to identify and implement process improvements to enhance operational and accounting efficiency as the firm scales
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree with strong academic performance
  • 5-10 years of experience; mix of public/private or fund administrator/private is preferred
  • Experience with fund accounting, investor reporting, or trade operations at a hedge fund, fund administrator, or public accounting firm
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and working knowledge of Portfolio Accounting system (Enfusion) a plus
  • Must be highly detail oriented, flexible, and able to work within a team-orientated environment as well as independently
  • Proven ability to multi-task and wear several hats in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-drive to consistently learn new skills and methodologies
  • Experience working on Financial Statements / audit process
  • Deep intellectual curiosity and with an aptitude for process improvements and efficiency enhancements
