Director, Portfolio Planning – Origination

• Lead portfolio planning, commercial origination, energy supply planning, and regulatory support
• Construct electric capacity Requests for Proposals, select winning bidders, and negotiate long-term supply deals
• Manage the utility's capacity position through open-market purchases, RFPs, and applicable auctions
• Oversee generation commercial agreements exceeding $5 billion in capital investment across Indiana and Kentucky
• Lead Operations & Market Support, Regulatory Support, Market Settlements, and Commercial Support departments
• Supervise department personnel, manage the O&M budget, and communicate O&M/CAPEX impacts
• Mentor, coach, and train direct reports
• Lead short-term and long-term generation capacity replacement activities
• Lead negotiations for asset acquisitions, power purchase agreements, off-take, and M&A transactions
• Manage existing generation supply agreements totaling 3,400 MW, over $5 billion in capital investment, and $2 billion in utility rate base
• Provide testimony and support CPCN, FERC, rate case, and other regulatory filings
• Support tax equity financing, asset acquisition due diligence, and onboarding and market registration of new generation assets
• Partner with Risk, Credit, Treasury, internal stakeholders, and external partners on deal risk and business objectives
• Develop Board of Director materials, resolutions, and approvals
• Direct production-costing models using PROMOD-Electric and Plexos–Gas
• Coordinate energy-market forecasts, testimony, data requests, audits, rate cases, tariffs, riders, monthly closing, market settlements, COGS forecasts, hedging programs, and market interventions

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Finance, Business Administration, or equivalent
• Extensive experience with wholesale electric market operations, gas trading, commercial negotiations/origination, renewable energy, and battery storage deployment
• Minimum of 10 years of work experience in the electric utility, gas utility, or a related industry
• Experience leading a complex department covering origination, market-facing, and regulatory-based processes
• Outstanding planning, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills
• Ability to perform duties effectively under normal, emergency, and contingency situations
• Knowledge of regulatory processes, plant operations, fuel supply, project development, rates, tariffs, state and federal regulations, and gas operations
• Financial competence in general accounting, financial statement analysis, renewable tax incentives, credit ratings, and securitization
• Knowledge of rates, tariffs, cost allocation, and billing functions
• Working understanding of regulatory processes, bulk power generation, wholesale power markets, and renewable/thermal generation
• Working understanding of market trends, deal structures, and legal deal-making processes
• Track record of commercial success through deal origination, regulatory approvals, construction, tax equity financing, asset in-service, and agreement tenure
• Legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship
