The Loan Officer will help small businesses across Ohio access financing to grow, invest, and create economic opportunity. This is an excellent opportunity for a relationship-driven lending professional who enjoys business development, community engagement, financial analysis, and commercial lending.

ABOUT

THE ROLE

As a Loan Officer, you'll serve as a trusted resource to business owners, lenders, and referral partners. You'll identify financing opportunities, structure qualified loan requests, and guide projects from initial conversations through credit underwriting.

You'll develop expertise in the SBA 504 Loan Program, State of Ohio Regional 166 Loan Program, and mission-based direct lending, with particular focus on SBA 504 eligibility, processing, and compliance requirements.

The role combines business development, relationship management, financial analysis, and lending expertise in a casual, highly collaborative work environment.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Develop and manage lending relationships that support organizational growth and mission.
  • Market lending programs to business owners, lenders, and referral sources.
  • Build relationships with banks, credit unions, business owners, community organizations, and other partners.
  • Participate in community events, professional organizations, trainings, and business development activities.
  • Meet with business owners to understand financing needs and identify appropriate solutions.
  • Initiate and structure SBA 504 loan opportunities.
  • Ensure loan requests meet applicable SBA requirements and policies.
  • Collect financial and business information needed for underwriting and complete credit analysis in compliance with program requirements.
  • Manage multiple loan opportunities from initial contact through credit underwriting.
  • Maintain timely, professional communication with customers, partners, SBA, and internal team members.
  • Provide training and educational programs for lenders and referral sources.
  • Maintain ongoing relationships with prospects, applicants, customers, and lending partners.
  • Deliver a high level of service and contribute to a positive customer experience.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
WHO YOU ARE

You are a detail-driven, analytical, and proactive lending professional who can evaluate complex financial information, research answers independently, and make sound decisions based on policy and analysis.

You are someone who:

  • Thinks critically and pays close attention to details.
  • Is comfortable interpreting financial statements, credit information, and lending requirements.
  • Understands the importance of policies, procedures, compliance, and documentation.
  • Proactively researches questions and finds answers rather than waiting to be told what to do.
  • Uses sound judgment to evaluate information, identify issues, and determine appropriate next steps.
  • Can manage multiple loan projects, priorities, and deadlines while maintaining accuracy.
  • Communicates clearly and professionally with borrowers, lenders, and internal team members.
  • Builds trust and develops strong relationships with business owners, lenders, and community partners.
  • Can balance analytical work with relationship-building and community engagement.
  • Works independently while contributing to a collaborative team.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR Required Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in business, finance, accounting, or a related field and/or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in underwriting, credit analysis, commercial lending, or related banking environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze financial statements, financial ratios, credit information, and other financial data.
  • Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to research and resolve questions independently.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Sound judgment and decision-making skills, including the ability to evaluate information, identify risks, and draw appropriate conclusions.
