What We Need YOU To Do:

The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency wants you to be our newest environmental specialist in the Division of Air Pollution Control (DAPC), working at our Central Office in downtown Columbus, Ohio.

We are looking for a focused, determined, goal‑oriented person to help our DAPC team in Columbus!

As an environmental specialist, you will review state permits to operate prepared by Ohio EPA district offices and local air agencies to determine if permits contain adequate terms and conditions establishing compliance with state and federal air pollution control regulations. You will review permit to install recommendations and Title V and Title IV permits - and make recommendations on whether to issue permits.

You will perform field inspections to gather information necessary to assist in permit preparation and emissions factor development specific to the asphalt industry and applicable sulfur dioxide emissions limitations. You will prepare permits using STARS and variances of other software.

You are going to participate as a technical advisor to district and local air agencies, regulated entities, and state agencies on federal and state laws, regulations, and guidelines involving sulfur dioxide and acid rain related issues. Along with this, you will assist in the preparation of official agency comments regarding proposed modifications of such programs.

You will provide technical assistance to engineers, scientists, government and legislative officials, the public and regulated community regarding laws, regulation policies, and air permit requirements - and participate in meetings, conferences, and training courses. You are also going to assist and make recommendations for actions in the resolution of permit appeals, participating in meetings and providing testimony (if necessary) in court or hearings.

Responsibilities
