Location: Columbus, Ohio
Wage: $200,000 - $225,000
The Ohio Association of County Behavioral Health Authorities (OACBHA) is the statewide trade association representing Ohio’s 50 county Alcohol, Drug Addiction, and Mental Health (ADAMH) Boards and covering the state’s 88 counties. OACBHA serves as a trusted voice and resource for behavioral health policy, advocacy, and collaboration across the state. Together with individuals in recovery and their families, the Association works with a variety of governmental bodies including the Ohio General Assembly, the Office of the Governor, other statewide office holders, cabinet agencies, and partner associations.
OACBHA works to provide education, develop policies, and seek support for initiatives that will expand and enhance mental health and substance abuse prevention, treatment, and recovery support services throughout Ohio.
The CEO manages all government affairs efforts, partnering closely with legislators and state agencies and coordinating with the Association’s lobbyist to ensure members receive clear, timely analysis of legislation, rules, and funding changes. The role also includes planning and facilitating membership meetings, supporting productive conversation among strong and diverse voices, and helping Boards navigate complex statewide policy issues.
Core responsibilities include:- Lead development and execution of a strategic plan aligned with mission and values
- Serve as chief advocate and spokesperson; build bipartisan legislative relationships
- Facilitate member engagement and consensus-building across 50 Boards
- Strengthen external partnerships with state agencies and allied organizations
- Oversee staff leadership, operations, and financial stewardship
- Communicate complex policy and funding issues in clear, actionable terms
- 5-7 Years of experience leading associations, public agencies, or member driven organizations
