What You'll Do as a Disaster Services Consultant 2

  • Under the direction of the Chief, Mitigation Branch, coordinates & monitors the agency's participation in grant programs (e.g., federal & state mitigation & disaster assistance programs) through the administration of the Hazard Mitigation Assistance grant programs, & other federal & state programs;
  • Works with state agencies & local governments to develop partnerships with all levels of government, the private sector, & voluntary organizations to create & maintain a comprehensive state mitigation program;
  • Assists local political jurisdictions to develop mitigation plans & projects that meet federal regulations & state requirements;
  • Provides training to state & local officials on mitigation planning, programs & procedures & processes related to effective management & monitoring of mitigation plans & projects to ensure compliance with federal regulations;
  • Monitors work of, & assists in training of Disaster Relief Grant Employees during disaster mitigation operations;

Qualifications

OPTION 1: 2 yrs. trg. or 2 yrs. exp. in emergency management, public or business administration; AND 2 yr. trg. or 2 yr. exp. in disaster services & emergency operations; AND must be able to provide own transportation.

OPTION 2:

-Or completion of undergraduate major core program in emergency management, public or business administration; AND 2 yrs. trg. or 2 yrs. exp. in disaster services & emergency operations; AND must be able to provide own transportation.

OPTION 3:

-Or 2 yrs. exp. as Disaster Services Consultant 1, 64911; AND must be able to provide own transportation.

-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
