Job Responsibilities- Conduct thorough records‑management reviews of all commitments, sentence modifications, and jail credit orders to ensure compliance with Ohio Revised Code (ORC).
- Calculate and maintain accurate inmate sentences, parole eligibility, release dates, jail time credit, good‑time credit, and earned credit in accordance with ORC, administrative regulations, and DRC policies.
- Determine earned‑credit eligibility and apply appropriate sentencing law correctly.
- Oversee and review inmate sentence calculations for precise accuracy, ensuring proper release of inmates.
- Immediately halt releases when new information is received and recompute release dates in compliance with court orders.
- Review appellate decisions to assess their impact on current sentences.
- Serve as liaison between the Computation Bureau and courts.
- Testify in court regarding sentence‑computation matters.
- Collaborate with the Attorney General’s Office to provide sentence‑computation information for lawsuits involving DRC.
- Complete performance evaluations of staff.
- Train staff in correctional records activities, statutes, regulations, case law, and department policies; serve as investigatory and hearing officer in staff disciplinary matters.
- Compile data for monthly/statistical reports.
- Conduct staff meetings to disseminate policy and procedural updates.
- Serve on standing and ad hoc committees as directed by the Assistant Chief or Chief.
- Attend meetings, trainings, and conferences; give presentations and conduct training as needed.
- At least 24 months of training or experience in processing, reviewing, and preparing Ohio adult correctional inmate or juvenile offender records and applicable state or departmental procedures, rules, and laws; plus one course or three months of experience in technical writing or business communication.
- – OR 12 months of experience as a Correction Records Sentence Computation/Release Officer (vacancy 63232).
- – OR 6 months of experience as a Correction Records Management Supervisor (vacancy 63235).
- – OR equivalent minimum class qualifications for employment.
