The Office of Program Compliance monitors more than 1,600 rental properties throughout Ohio, ensuring properties are being maintained in satisfactory or above manner and are in compliance with IRS, HUD, USDA Rural Housing, federal HOME funds, Ohio Housing Trust Funds, ARRA, Tax Credit Exchange (TCE) & state regulations. The Office conducts training for owners and managers of rental projects regarding basic & advanced issues they face.

What

You'll Do

OHFA is seeking four (4) dedicated Housing Examiner Trainees in central Ohio who will:

  • Travel throughout Ohio to conduct physical compliance inspections of properties in the field.
  • Complete file inspections/audits either in the field or in the office.
  • Review tenant files for income & household composition requirements designated under multiple affordable housing funding guidelines.

Position Notes:

  • Columbus-based employees fill these positions and report to OHFA s offices located at 2600 Corporate Exchange Drive, Columbus, OH 43231.
  • The duties may involve varying time in-office vs. in-field depending on the season and assignments.
  • Duties may be performed anywhere in Ohio. Properties may be in Columbus or other locations (Toledo, Cleveland, Youngstown, Zanesville, Athens, Portsmouth, Cincinnati, Dayton).
  • When completing work in the field, staff may use a state vehicle for work-related purposes.

Classification Specific Notes:

  • During the first year, Housing Examiner Trainees train with more experienced staff; work schedule depends on assignment.
  • In the field, this is a physically demanding job requiring inspections of interior and exterior building areas; tasks may occur in various weather conditions.
  • Training includes agency-paid training to obtain or enter candidacy for SHCM, HCCP, NPCC, or TCS credentials.
  • Upon obtaining or entering candidacy for one credential and completing other requirements, Housing Examiner Trainees are reassigned to Housing Examiners. Step 1 pay for Housing Examiners is $30.55 per hour.
