Job Description Summary
As a Government Relations Specialist, you will represent Nationwide's interests on state and federal legislation. You will assist leaders in monitoring, researching, and influencing policies that affect the company and its customers.
Key Responsibilities- Track and analyze legislation and regulatory activities that could impact Nationwide.
- Serve as a liaison to state officials and federal representatives, attending committee hearings and advocacy meetings.
- Maintain communication channels to advance Nationwide’s views to government officials.
- Develop technical input and testimony for legislators and regulators.
- Collaborate with Nationwide committees and teams to support favorable policies.
- Support political compliance activities, including filing disclosure forms, tracking election data, and managing PAC financials.
- Attend political fundraising events and maintain relationships with lawmakers and staff.
- Perform additional assigned duties as required.
Reports to the Director/Executive as an individual contributor role.
Education & ExperienceUndergraduate degree in political science, finance, business, or related fields. Minimum of four years of experience in legislative representation, federal congressional office, state office, regulatory agency, or trade association.
Knowledge, Abilities & Skills- Deep understanding of the political process, legislative system, and regulatory agencies.
- Knowledge of Nationwide’s business operations.
- Strong research skills with proficiency using government agency databases and other information systems.
- Experience with campaign finance laws and election compliance.
- Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to build trust and confidence with elected officials and industry representatives.
- Proficient computer skills and familiarity with related business software.

Job Conditions- Exempt, not eligible for overtime.
- Work in a normal office environment; occasional travel.
