This position is for a Manager 2 in the Data Science and Engineering section of the Ohio Colleges of Medicine Government Resource Center (GRC). The role includes technical, supervisory, and organizational leadership responsibilities, with a focus on health quality measure development, production, and advanced data analytics.
Responsibilities- Directly supervise two or more research staff.
- Provide technical and subject matter expertise on projects.
- Support project development, including grant and proposal writing.
- Lead complex research tasks or projects as PI, co‑PI, or task lead.
- Independently determine methods for new projects.
- Develop practices, processes, metrics, or models that may establish organizational precedent.
- Apply advanced subject matter and methodological knowledge to manage a wide range of projects.
- Provide guidance to research project staff and project sponsors.
- Communicate complex or sensitive information and facilitate productive dialogue among stakeholders.
- Mentor colleagues in their roles as managers, PIs, and subject matter experts.
- Identify and secure funding for new research projects.
- Support project development and administration by working with funders and stakeholders to understand needs, completing necessary contracting, and establishing project governance structures.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
Required Qualifications- Minimum of five years of relevant experience with a bachelor’s degree; or three years of relevant experience with an advanced degree in a related field.
- Successful completion of a background check.
- Selected candidate may be requested to complete a pre‑employment physical including a drug screen.
- Demonstrated increasing responsibility in at least two of the following areas: health quality measure design and implementation, data linkage, design and maintenance of large relational databases, and statistical analysis of administrative data.
- Experience in population health, substance use disorder, maternal and infant health, Medicaid claims analysis, electronic health records, or healthcare quality improvement methods.
- Proficiency in advanced analytics using SAS, R, and/or SQL.
- Substantial experience working with external clients and stakeholders.
- Experience designing and producing health quality measures and proficiency with Git.
- Experience working with health system clients such as state agencies (e.g., Ohio Department of Medicaid or Ohio Department of Health) or hospitals.
- Experience in applied health services or population health research.
