Legal College Intern - Labor Relations & HR Policy
Performs legal research on specific issues for Department of Administrative Services (DAS) Office of Collective Bargaining Deputy Director, Assistant Deputy Director & Lead Labor Relations, Human Resources Policy Administrators & Policy Analysts (e.g. researches unfair labor practices, civil service laws and rules, State Employment Relations Board decisions, court opinions and employment law issues) Analyzes & responds to unfair labor practice charges on behalf of State agencies, including contacting agency representatives to obtain information/documentation to support the State's position on the charge to complete the response Reads, reviews & summarizes arbitration awards, based on legal research, prepares memoranda & performs various special projects as assigned.
Performs a variety of duties relating to researching topics for arbitrations & mediations, writing briefs & closing arguments, assists advocates in preparing material & documents for mediation & arbitration. Contacts state agencies & other public/government entities to answer inquiries Assist supervisors in responding to agency inquiries Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:
Must be enrolled & attending an accredited law school Knowledge:
Ohio Revised Code Chapters 4117 & Ohio Administrative Code 123, 124
* Public/human relations Agency policies & procedures
* Ohio labor, civil service law Arbitration/mediation & labor relations practices
* Skills:
Operation of personal computer & related software using Microsoft Office Abilities:
Deal with problems involving several variables in familiar context Gather, collate & classify information about data, people or things
