The Office of Family Assistance (OFA) provides operational, technical assistance and training support for safety net programs that assist low-income Ohioans. It manages public assistance programs like Ohio Works First (OWF), Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP), and the Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP). OFA also develops policies for county agencies, administers the Ohio Benefits online system, and supports employment and training initiatives to help Ohioans achieve economic stability.

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) helps low-income individuals purchase nutritious food. This position is located in OFA's Bureau of Program Integrity, which reviews SNAP cases to ensure they are processed accurately and on time. In this role, you will evaluate the work of county caseworkers to confirm that decisions on SNAP cases comply with all applicable regulations.
Job Duties Include- Review food assistance budgets
- Research food assistance policy
- Manage and coordinate your schedule
- Travel to counties to interview clients
- Review screens in the Ohio Benefits eligibility system
- Send contact letters to clients
- Complete interviews with clients
- Complete cases in the Federal System
- Upload materials and verifications for each review
Full-time.
HoursStandard workdays are Monday through Friday. Hours are between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

A. Rhodes State Officer Tower - 30
E. Broad Street, Columbus, OH 43215.
Requires traveling 2-3 times per month. ODJFS Fleet vehicles are available for travel use. In order to operate a state vehicle, you must have a valid driver license.
Position Number.
Option 1The candidate, at minimum, must have the following:
- 36 months experience as a public assistance caseworker with experience in all categories of public assistance;
- AND 3 months experience training or 3 months experience in technical writing;
- AND 3 months experience training or 3 months experience in mainframe databases;
- AND valid Ohio driver license.
- Completion of undergraduate core coursework in social &/or behavioral science;
- AND 12 months training or 12 months experience in public assistance regulations & policies relative to all public assistance programs;
- AND 3 months experience training or 3 months experience in technical writing;
- AND 3 months experience training or 3 months experience in mainframe databases;
- AND valid Ohio driver license.
- Equivalent of minimum class qualifications for employment noted above.
This position is in the State of Ohio’s OCSEA/AFSCME Pay Schedule, Pay Range 32. Unless required by legislation or union contract, starting salary will be the minimum salary of that pay range (step 1, currently $31.47 per hour). These ranges provide a standardized pathway for pay increases. With continued employment, new hires move to the next step in the range after 6 months and annually thereafter.
Cost of Living Adjustments increase wages in these ranges each fiscal year. The current step progression wages are in the table below.
