Summary

The Shelter Operations Lead provides direct supervision, crisis intervention, and support services to youth and/or families participating in the Crisis Program. During assigned shifts, this role serves as a lead worker by coordinating daily activities, supporting Crisis Intervention Specialists (CIS), and ensuring established procedures, safety standards, and documentation requirements are followed. This position performs hands‑on client care and staff support while operating under the direction of program leadership.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Shift Coordination and Staff Support
  • Serve as the on‑site lead during assigned shifts to ensure daily program routines and expectations are followed.
  • Monitor completion of required intake forms, case notes, incident reports, and shift documentation by CIS prior to the end of each shift.
  • Verify that housekeeping, meal preparation, and routine facility tasks are completed according to program guidelines.
  • Provide real‑time guidance and assistance to CIS staff on shift‑related tasks and client needs.
  • Act as the primary point of contact during the shift for intakes, parents/guardians, and on‑call support staff, following established protocols.
  • Assist the Program Director with onboarding and training of new CIS staff as assigned.
  • Support administrative tasks as directed by program leadership.
Direct Client Services
  • Provide ongoing supervision, engagement, and support to youth participating in the Crisis Program.
  • Respond to crises and behavioral concerns using approved intervention techniques and safety procedures.
  • Answer crisis phone calls and document interactions according to program requirements.
  • Facilitate group activities and structured sessions with clients as scheduled.
  • Advocate for youth and families with Children Services and other community agencies following program guidelines.
  • Make referrals and coordinate linkages to community resources as directed.
Documentation and Compliance
  • Complete accurate and timely client documentation, including treatment notes and incident reports, within required time frames.
  • Ensure confidentiality and compliance with agency policies, licensing requirements, and funding source standards.
  • Meet established productivity and documentation expectations.
Team Participation and Coverage
  • Assist with coordinating shift coverage to maintain required staffing ratios.
  • Attend and actively participate in required team meetings and trainings; lead small group discussions as assigned.
  • Serve on agency committees as assigned.
  • Transport clients using agency-owned or approved personal vehicles when required.
Additional Duties
  • Perform other job‑related duties as assigned to support program operations.
Requirements Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic computer and data entry skills.
  • Ability to problem solve and resolve conflict using established procedures.
  • Ability to work independently during assigned shifts with supervisory support available.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record preferred.
