Title: CVOR Surgical Tech – Night Shift
Location: Columbus, OH
Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: Night, 3x12 hours (18:30 – 07:00), PM weekends, call required
Job Responsibilities and Required/Preferred Skills:
- Perform surgical technologist duties in CVOR, general OR, thoracic, vascular, and trauma settings.
- Scrub and circulate for cardiovascular and thoracic procedures including CABG, EVAR, TEVAR, valve replacements (mitral, aortic), VADs, aortic aneurysm repairs, laparoscopic cardiac surgery, heart/lung/kidney/liver transplant, and arteriovenous fistula repairs.
- Assist in general surgery procedures: appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resections (open/LAP), hernia repairs, thyroidectomy, Whipple.
- Support plastics and thoracic cases: abdominoplasty, free flap, mastectomy, VATS, lung resections.
- Handle specialized equipment: fiber optic scopes, cell saver, crash cart, drills, electrosurgical units, case carts, and high-level disinfectants.
- Maintain aseptic technique, isolation precautions, sharps safety, radiation safety, universal protocol, and proper specimen handling/documentation.
- Follow EPIC charting system for documentation.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams as required; respond to emergencies and assist in patient care per unit protocols.
Experience Requirements: Minimum 5 years as a CST, including at least 2 years dedicated to cardiac and vascular procedures; at least 1 year CVOR experience in a Level I trauma center. First-time travelers accepted; locals accepted.Certifications Required: BLS; additional CVOR-specific competencies preferred.
- Must be flexible with shift, call, and PM weekend coverage; candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting process promptly.
