Job Description Summary

Collects, processes, and stores biological specimens for laboratory testing and research purposes. Does not perform hypothesis-based research or analysis on the biospecimens – serves as a supporting role to facilitate research.

Essential Functions
  • Collects, processes, and stores biological specimens according to established protocols and standard operating procedures.
  • Maintains accurate records of specimen collection, processing, and storage.
  • Ensures that specimens are properly labeled and tracked throughout the collection and storage process.
  • Performs quality control checks on specimens to ensure that they meet established standards.
  • Maintains laboratory equipment and supplies, and orders new supplies as needed.
  • Communicates with other laboratory staff and researchers to ensure that specimens are collected and processed in a timely and efficient manner.
Education Requirements
  • Bachelor's of Science or equivalent certification and experience, required.
  • Coursework in anatomy, physiology, statistics, and relevant research methods, preferred.

Frequently: lifting/carrying: 0-10 lbs, pushing/pulling: 0-25 lbs, standing, walking.

Continuously:
Audible speech, color vision, computer skills, decision making, depth perception, flexing/extending of neck, hand use: grasping, gripping, turning, hearing acuity, interpreting data, peripheral vision, problem solving, reaching above shoulder, repetitive hand/arm use, seeing–far/near, sitting, squat/kneel.
