What does a Therapeutic Program Worker do?A Therapeutic Program Worker (TPW) is a direct care worker who helps residents with daily living skills and supports them to become more independent in achieving their goals. Support varies based on individual needs and capabilities.

- Assist with eating, bathing, toileting, personal hygiene, oral hygiene, dressing, grooming, communication, money management, etiquette, and social skills
- Implement active treatment activities (gym, pavilion, activity room, pool)
- Assist with planning and shopping activities (e.g., shopping, vocational skills, hair appointments)
- Complete various daily and monthly documentation, including documentation of unusual incidents or medication reactions
- Perform light housekeeping in living areas
- Assist with redirecting unsafe actions to bring about positive outcomes
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license with 5 or fewer points
- No prior experience required

- May be exposed to unpredictable resident behavior; position requires bending, stooping, standing, lifting, and occasional running. Developmental centers operate 24/7, year-round.
- Mandatory overtime may be required for this position.
