Overview
What You'll Do:
As a Public Health Consultant in the Medical Director's Office you will support operations of the Continuing Education (CE) programs. Priorities will include coordinating, conducting, evaluating, and maintaining the continuing nursing education (CNE) and continuing medical education (CME) programs while ensuring adherence to state laws and national approval status from accrediting organizations.
- Organize and attend quarterly/monthly meetings
- Design and update procedural and orientation manuals
- Maintain CE reports to meet state and CE approver requirements
- Answer requests for specialized assistance about continuing education programs
- Obtain and coordinate speakers for training sessions
- Assist supervisor in determining educational needs (e.g., reviews feedback from meetings with professional nursing organizations, analyzes course evaluations) of local health department nursing staff
- Provide training and education through in-person sessions, webinars, and conferences
- Research and compile educational resources for use by consultants and local health departments (e.g., health commissioners’ conferences, environmental principles course)
- Ensure availability of necessary training equipment (e.g., transport and set up equipment)
- Evaluate outcomes of educational programs
- As a Public Health Consultant in the Medical Director's Office you will support operations of the Continuing Education (CE) programs.
- 6 months experience in providing direct service and/or consultation in a public health, community health, hospital and/or clinic setting, including experience in program evaluation, grant review, developing and presenting training programs, and facilitating and/or working collaboratively with coalitions or groups; completion of graduate core coursework in public health, health care, health administration or related field; must be able to provide own transportation
- OR 18 months experience in providing direct service and/or consultation in a public health, community health, hospital and/or clinic setting, including experience in program evaluation, grant review, developing and presenting training programs, and facilitating and/or working collaboratively with coalitions or groups; completion of undergraduate core coursework in public health, health care, health administration or related field; must be able to provide own transportation
- Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above
- Bachelor’s degree or an advanced degree in Public Health
- Experience with project development and operationalization with specified timelines
- Experience with computer software (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
- Experience in developing, delivering, and evaluating training/educational programs
- Experience in coordinating continuing nursing education (CNE) credits
- Experience in developing training and informational materials
