Position: Behavioral Healthcare Provider 1

Within scope of practice, performs psychosocial interventions and develops and facilitates behavior treatment plans at the direction of the principals:

  • Regularly performs individual, family or group intervention (e.g., counsels, tests, and educates students);
  • Trains and provides assistance in suicide ideation and threat assessments;
  • Develops intervention goals and objectives and recommends behavior treatment options designed to educate and resolve problems in functioning;
  • Identifies students' behavior counseling needs;
  • Coordinates peer mediation programs;
  • Operates social/emotional group workshops and ongoing group building activities;
  • Assesses clients and determines/develops specific intervention techniques for clients & monitors client's responses to treatment systems and plans;
  • Provides feedback on effectiveness of prescribed treatments/plans, evaluates behavioral healthcare provider cases and client's progress resulting from prescribed treatment plans;
  • Serves on treatment teams and program development teams, attends training meetings, intradepartmental meetings, court hearings; establishes and maintains working relationship with other facilities, agencies, and support services in order to coordinate referrals (in conjunction with school social worker and principals) and conduct follow-up services.

Assures quality service for students at the direction of the principals:

  • Enforces rules, regulations and legal requirements with students;
  • Documents events of the therapeutic process;
  • Provides feedback and effectiveness of prescribed plans to appropriate persons (e.g., administrators, teachers, residential advisors, parents/guardians);
  • Monitors students' response to functional behavior plans;
  • Collaborates with staff (e.g., psychologist, teachers, residential advisors) and cooperates with behavior intervention plans and wrap-around services for students;
  • Assists with crisis team intervention;
  • Leads Positive Behavior Intervention Support teams and documentation;
  • Collaborates with OSD staff personnel in terms of student concerns and wrap around services.

Maintains necessary data documents to satisfy requirements and completes forms:

  • Maintains necessary documentation (e.g., State, Federal and agency requirements);
  • Completes forms required by law and agency policy (e.g., status reports, implementation plan, case notes).

Performs other duties as assigned:

  • Participates in extra-curricular activities (e.g., homecoming, special weekends, sporting events);
  • Supervises field trips;
  • Accompanies students on and off campus related trips as needed or requested.

Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor II (LCDC II) by Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals Board.

  • Or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) by Ohio Counselor, Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy Board.
  • Or Licensed Social Worker (LSW) by Ohio Counselor, Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy Board.
  • Or Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (MFT) by the State of Ohio Counselor, Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy Board.
  • Or Licensed Registered Nurse with practice specialty certificate in Mental Health or Psychiatric Nursing as issued by Ohio Board of Nursing.
  • Or Licensed Registered Nurse by Ohio Board of Nursing plus completion of Masters degree in Psychology or other mental health related field.
  • Or Licensed Registered Nurse by Ohio Board of Nursing plus completion of Masters degree in Nursing with a Mental Health of Psychiatric Nursing concentrate.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • MA in counseling or social work field experience
  • Knowledge of therapy issues of deaf children and their families
  • Expertise with crisis intervention
  • Experience working in treatment and/or school setting
  • Strong documentation and data analysis skills
